New Year, More New Lights

01/01/2023

Surprisingly, everything I needed to install the new fog lights showed up last night.

I started the install by laying out the universal harness from Amazon and found a good mounting spot for the relay. Then I set out getting the wires to their final destination. Following the factory harness I routed the power for the lights to the bumper and using my trusty coat hanger I was able to get the wires in the cab. Once in the cab I tested the switch and confirmed everything was working as intended.

The switch didn't fit as well as I thought it would in the factory opening so I decided to modify it slightly. Using a screwdriver and heat gun I pulled the prongs out so it would grab the dash better. There is a slight gap around the switch itself so maybe this isn't the exact one that I needed but I can search for a better one later. Once I had all the connections soldered and heat shrunk I moved to the front of the vehicle.

The universal harness had quite a bit of extra wire that I didn't want coiled and tie-wrapped behind the bumper. I cut about 4 feet of wire off the harness and, using the connections that came with the Lasfit lights, spliced the new leads in. Once it was routed behind the bumper it made for a real clean finished product. All that remained was the final few bolts to put the lights together and then to mount them to the bumper.

Just need the turn signal relay, the driving light relay, and the driving light switch and this project is wrapped up.
