Starting the sound proofing

09/24/2022

Managed to get an alignment a few days ago, I could tell the front was way out of spec after the lift. Now I can officially call the lift complete and with about 100 miles in...I'd say it drives pretty good.

I started off today day by hitting up the local junk yard to check out a 2001 4Runner. Still hunting for some fog lights but managed to grab some limited fender flares and some tail lights that I thought were nice. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that the bulbs were different in the 2001 so looks like Ill be selling these. I buffed them out so they look nice on eBay. The fender flares... I'm not sure how I will mount them yet but its something I can play around with. I don't think the limited flares will work and Ill probably have to find some sport model flares instead.

I've had a box of sound proofing supplies sitting unopened for a week or so and I finally got the motivation to start working on it. I covered as much as I could keeping all the hole and bolts uncovered then used my roller, and a trim tool for hard to reach areas, to flatten it all out. Moving to the door panel, I attempted to cover it in closed cell foam. This is the first time I've ever used the foam so I hope it works out ok. I probably should have spent some more time looking on how to install it because I think bigger sheets are better but the setup I have cant hurt, I just don't think its optimal. I only finished the 2 front doors so there is still a long way to go.
