Wheel Painting

09/03/2022

Really crappy weather today so all I can really do is paint the wheels in the shop. I'm probably going to be stuck with these for a while since new wheels are pretty expensive, more so than I remember, and the tires are brand new. Started by cleaning them with brake cleaner to eat up as much of the peeling clear coat I could. Then hit the whole wheel with a wire brush followed up by a good scrubbing with a degreaser. I used an air compressor to dry it up and get rid of all the loose debris. Then it was ready for paint. 4-5 light coats of satin black on the wheel and 2-3 on the center cap. They turned out pretty good for being in such rough shape and only spending $35.

Checked the ball joints while I had the wheels off and they seemed in good shape.
