Squeaky Belts, Trim Removal, & Transmission Plug Leak
01/14/2023
I've been putting off a few things that I decided to knock out today.
1) I've been getting a little belt squeal when starting her up that I think was due to the alternator belt. I got that tightened up and so far no issues.
2) Since the last freeze, with temps down to 18 degrees, I seem to have developed a transmission leak from this dummy plug. Doing a little research I discovered there is a O-ring inside that I figured was just old and needed to be replaced. It seemed ok when I pulled it out but It got replaced anyway. Time will tell if that fixes the leak but it was a lot harder to install then it was to remove so I hope that's a sign of a good seal.
3) I've been going back and forth about the chrome trim around the fenders. I finally decided to remove them and I feel it looks a lot cleaner (the wife agrees). I cleaned and buffed the residue off although it will probably need to be repeated since there is still some trace that they were once there. Overall I think its an improvement but I saved the trim just in case. I also looked at taking off the mud flaps since they are basically useless now with the bigger tires but the rear bumper didn't look good without them so I left them for now.
