Under-hood LEDs & Radiator Cap

7/31/2023

Good news first:
I was browsing Yota Nation and their under-hood LED kits were on sale so I scooped one up. What a difference it makes! Install was pretty easy but I didn't follow the directions exactly. First I had to put some tape on the push pin because I was worried it was going to snag the harness for my headlights. Ill probably wind up moving the headlight harness because of this. Second I didn't use the supplied mounts for the wire and instead chose to run it through the hood. Felt it looked cleaner than using zip ties and I couldn't think of a reason NOT to do it.

And the bad news:
A while back I had a small coolant leak that I tracked down to rear left of the manifold. I didn't want to tear it all down again after the valve cover job so I thought I would take a shot with some Bar's Leak Seal before I tore everything down again. It worked, the leak stopped.

Fast forward to today and while installing the LED kit I noticed the radiator return hose was sucked in. Thinking that was weird I pulled the overflow cap off and it was plugged with the leak seal. Then I was worried it all settled in the overflow tank and unfortunately I was right. SO I pulled the tank and cleaned it all out. After that was all back to normal I opened the radiator just to take a peek inside and the cap broke.

So new cap on the way and I'm planning to do a full flush...
